We arrange freight from Sweden to the Czech Republic from Skåne, West Sweden, Småland and the Stockholm region – as groupage from one pallet, as a part load or as a full truck. From Skåne goods take about 2 days, from the rest of southern and central Sweden usually 2–3 days after loading. Knapek Spedition in Břeclav has organised road haulage from Sweden since 2011 through more than 500 vetted contracted carriers and delivers anywhere in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Besides importing goods from Sweden, we also handle material transport for production – steel, paper and timber. In the opposite direction we arrange goods transport to Sweden.

Which Swedish regions matter most for Czech importers?

Swedish industry is concentrated in the southern third of the country. Skåne is closest to the continent, the west coast around Gothenburg is a manufacturing and logistics hub, Småland is known for its dense network of small and mid-sized producers, and Stockholm with the Mälaren valley hosts large distribution warehouses. Up north the population thins and distances grow fast.

Bridge or ferry: which route do we use?

There are three realistic ways across the Baltic, and choosing well saves both time and kilometres:

  1. The Øresund Bridge from Malmö, then overland through Denmark and Germany – no timetable to wait for, a good fit for Skåne and the west coast.
  2. Ferry from Trelleborg to Rostock or Sassnitz, then via Berlin and Dresden – fewer road kilometres, handy for Bohemia.
  3. Ferry to Poland, for example Trelleborg–Świnoujście, then down western Poland – often the best option for Moravia and Slovakia.

We choose the route from the loading and delivery points and the ferry departures, and state it in the quote. Bridge toll, ferry, Swedish city charges and road tolls in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland and Czechia are all included. Driving bans along the way are built into the plan: in Germany vehicles over 7.5 t may not run on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10 pm, and Poland restricts vehicles over 12 t on public holidays and, in summer, at weekends.

How long does freight from Sweden to the Czech Republic take?

From Skåne allow about two days; from Gothenburg, Småland and Stockholm usually two to three days after collection. Transit is counted from loading to unloading, and on ferry routes the actual sailing matters. Loads from northern Sweden are scheduled individually. Swedish rules require winter equipment on trucks, and snow in the north slows things down, so we add a buffer in the winter months. When it is urgent, we arrange a double-crewed express.

Collecting in Sweden: hours, references and the summer shutdown

Swedish companies plan carefully and stick to their slots. Big warehouses in Gothenburg, Jönköping or around Stockholm expect the truck to be pre-announced with a booking number; without one, a driver may wait until the next day. Loading mostly happens in the morning and early afternoon. Smaller Småland manufacturers are more flexible but often have no dock and load from the side by forklift, so we book a curtain-sider.

The biggest trap is summer: in July many Swedish firms close production and dispatch for several weeks. If you need goods during that period, agree collection with your supplier before the holiday starts. Less is shipped around Midsummer in June and over Christmas as well.

Groupage, part load or full truck?

Over this distance it pays to consolidate. A few pallets travel more cheaply as groupage, larger volumes as a direct part load, and once you approach half a trailer we also price the whole truck for comparison.

VolumeSuitable serviceWhat to prepare
1 to about 6 palletsgroupage via a cross-dockdimensions, weight, stackability
about 3–7 loading metrespart load without transhipmentldm, ready date, loading method
full trailer – 33 euro pallets, 13.6 ldm, about 24 tfull truck load (FTL)booking number and loading slot
glass, delicate furniturecurtain-sider with side loading, load securingpackaging type, stackable or not
food needing refrigerationreefer trailertemperature and shelf life

The arithmetic is simple: one euro pallet equals 0.4 ldm, so 15 pallets placed side by side take about 6 ldm. Loading metres measure floor space, so for non-stackable goods such as glass or upholstered furniture please tell us the pallet height.

Can several Swedish suppliers share one truck?

The most common pairing is Jönköping and Gothenburg, which sit on one southbound axis and can be loaded on the same day. Småland combines well with Skåne too. Send us the addresses and ready dates; we set the collection order and deliver to one or several points in Czechia or Slovakia.

Incoterms decide who books and pays. Under EXW or FCA it is the buyer – you, through us – while under DAP the Swedish supplier ships. Many companies move to FCA precisely so they can control dates and consolidate loads.

Documents and customs when importing from Sweden

Sweden belongs to the EU and Schengen even though it uses the krona, so goods cross without duty or customs procedures. An invoice or delivery note and a CMR consignment note, signed at loading and delivery, are all you need.

How quickly will you get a quote?

Send us the loading address in Sweden, warehouse opening hours, reference number, pallet count or loading metres, weight and delivery address. During office hours you will receive a price including bridge, ferry and tolls within 30 minutes, and after confirmation a vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours. For the opposite direction, see transport to Sweden.

Importing from Sweden again and again? We agree fixed loading days, a rate for a longer period and return loads to Scandinavia – see regular transport, or call or write to us via the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

How long does road freight from Sweden to Prague take?
Usually 2–3 days from loading. Malmö is about 950 km from Prague, Stockholm about 1,550 km.
Will a shipment from Skåne cross the Øresund bridge or sail from Trelleborg?
It depends on the date and space on the ships. The bridge via Copenhagen involves no waiting, while the ferry to Rostock or Sassnitz saves road kilometres.
Can a load from Stockholm travel via Poland?
Yes, by ferry to Świnoujście and then across western Poland. This way suits deliveries in Moravia and Slovakia in particular.
Do I pay the Stockholm or Gothenburg congestion charge separately?
No. Congestion charges, the Øresund bridge toll and the ferry are all included in the price we quote.
Does a truck need winter equipment in Sweden?
Yes, Swedish rules require it on trucks too in winter conditions. We arrange suitably equipped vehicles and allow extra time in winter.
Do you carry furniture from Småland?
Yes, we load furniture on pallets or in cartons in Jönköping, Värnamo and the surrounding area. It travels in a closed vehicle, strapped down.
Can you bring glass from the Kingdom of Crystal around Växjö safely?
Yes, if it is packed firmly in crates or on padded pallets. Mention that it is fragile in your enquiry so the load is stowed accordingly.
Is there duty on goods from Sweden because it pays in kronor?
No. The Swedish krona changes nothing here – Sweden is in the EU and Schengen, so goods travel without customs with an invoice and CMR.
Can Jönköping and Gothenburg be combined on one truck?
Yes, road 40 links the two cities. We plan the two pickups one after the other and propose it in the quote.
Do the Swedish July factory holidays affect loading?
Yes, many Swedish companies close for a joint holiday in July and warehouses run on reduced staff. It is best to agree summer loading dates early.
Is Bratislava or Žilina reached via Germany or via Poland when shipping from Sweden?
Both work: through Germany and Prague and then down the D1 past Brno, or on a Polish ferry and straight through Poland. Unloading is possible anywhere in Slovakia.
Will you collect a single pallet in Helsingborg?
Gladly – a lone pallet from Helsingborg joins a groupage run heading south, and the price reflects just its floor space.
Do you load in northern Sweden too, such as Sundsvall or Umeå?
On request, yes. The journey is much longer, so we give the transit time individually in the quote.
How many pallets of bearings or machine parts fit on one truck from Sweden?
A full truck takes 33 euro pallets and about 24 t. With heavy metal parts the weight usually decides rather than the pallet count.
Can you take Czech exports up to Sweden on the return leg?
Yes, northbound loads to Sweden are part of what we do. Customers with steady volumes get imports and exports planned as one rotation.
