Freight from Småland to the Czech Republic usually takes 2–3 days; from Jönköping it is about 1,250 km to Prague and about 1,450 km to Brno. Jönköping, at the southern tip of Lake Vättern, sits on the E4 in the middle of southern Sweden – which is why one of the country's main warehouse belts grew up here, surrounded by hundreds of smaller manufacturers.
Sweden's warehouse belt and Småland's workshops
- Jönköping and the Torsvik logistics area – central warehouses of online and high-street retailers that supply all of Scandinavia; returns, mixed pallets and stock for central Europe.
- Nässjö – a railway junction with distribution warehouses where goods move from train to truck.
- Gnosjö, Gislaved and Anderstorp – the well-known cluster of small industrial firms: pressed and bent metal parts, wire products, plastic and rubber components.
- Värnamo – furniture and interior makers, metalworking and subcontractors for engineering.
- Växjö and Kronoberg – timber and wood products, forestry machines and parts; east of Växjö, glassworks whose products need careful packing.
Collecting from several workshops on one run
Småland rarely sends one big load; more often it is a few pallets from different suppliers within a few dozen kilometres. A typical collection round looks like this:
- Morning collection in Gislaved – rubber and plastic parts, two or three pallets.
- Gnosjö – metal parts from a press shop, heavy pallets placed over the axles.
- Anderstorp or Värnamo – furniture or interior parts, bulky and light, loaded on top or at the rear.
- Afternoon in Jönköping – topping up at a Torsvik warehouse, then south on the E4.
We plan the loading order from the back according to the drop-off points in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Each supplier needs its own delivery note and labels on its pallets so unloading goes quickly.
South on the E4 and across the Baltic
From Jönköping the route follows the E4 past Värnamo to Helsingborg and on over the Øresund Bridge and Denmark, or to Trelleborg for the ferry to Rostock. For goods from around Gislaved, road 40 via Borås to Göteborg and the ferry to Kiel can also work. In Germany, trucks over 7.5 t may not run on Sundays and public holidays from 0:00 to 22:00. Bridge tolls, the ferry and the tolls in Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic are included in our price.
In winter the Småland highlands get snow and ice, and in Sweden heavy vehicles must have winter tyres from December to March when winter conditions apply. We allow for that in collection times.
Furniture, machines and metal parts in the trailer
Furniture is bulky but light, so loading metres decide; metal parts from Gnosjö hit the payload of about 24 t before the space runs out. A full truck takes 33 euro pallets and 13.6 loading metres, and single pallets travel as groupage. Machines must stand on pallets or timber skids so a forklift can lift them. Sweden is in the EU – no customs, just an invoice and a CMR note.
