What is the route from the Czech Republic to Sweden?

There are two main routes from the Czech Republic to Sweden. Most often we drive via Dresden and Berlin to Rostock (about 560 km from Prague) and take the ferry to Trelleborg in southern Sweden. The second route runs via Hamburg and Denmark – on the Puttgarden–Rødby ferry and across the Øresund Bridge to Malmö.

For western Sweden (Gothenburg) there is also an overnight ferry from Kiel. Trelleborg to Gothenburg is about 300 km and to Stockholm around 620 km. Typical transit is 2–3 days from loading, depending on the ferry connection and unloading place.

Where we go in Sweden – industrial centres

We most often head to these cities and industrial areas with manufacturing and automotive companies:

  • Stockholm – production, IT
  • Gothenburg – Volvo, port
  • Malmö – logistics
  • Uppsala – pharma
  • Västerås – ABB – energy
  • Linköping – Saab – aerospace
  • Helsingborg – logistics, port

What do we transport to Sweden?

To Sweden we mainly carry parts for the car and truck industry around Gothenburg and Södertälje, engineering components, glass, building materials and palletised goods for distribution centres in Jönköping and Helsingborg.

Ferry transport has its own rules: the load must be firmly secured and declared to the shipping line in advance. That is why we need the exact weight and dimensions of the shipment in your enquiry.

Which tolls and rules apply in Sweden?

  • Eurovignette: Sweden uses the time-based Eurovignette for trucks from 12 t. The Øresund Bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö is charged separately.
  • Driving ban: Sweden has no weekend truck ban like Germany – restrictions apply only in German transit (Sundays and public holidays).
  • Winter: in winter conditions (usually December to March) heavy vehicles must have winter tyres. North of Stockholm we plan for snow and longer driving times.
  • Ferry: time on the ferry counts as the driver's rest period, so an overnight ferry from Rostock or Kiel does not lengthen the journey.

What do we transport from Sweden to the Czech Republic?

From Sweden to the Czech Republic we most often carry steel products and sheet metal, paper and packaging, bearings and engineering parts, timber and furniture components. We load throughout southern and central Sweden – from Malmö and Gothenburg to Stockholm and Borlänge.

Frequently asked questions

Which cities in Sweden do you serve?
Most often Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala, Västerås and other industrial centres – dozens of cities in total.
Can you arrange regular transport to Sweden, there and back?
Yes. We arrange regular transport to Sweden on fixed days and, if you like, there and back: the vehicle delivers your goods and loads the next consignment on the way back, such as returnable packaging or goods for your warehouse. The rate is agreed for a longer period.
How long does transport to Sweden take?
Transport to Sweden usually takes 2–3 days from loading, and we arrange a vehicle within 24 hours.
How does a truck get from the Czech Republic to Sweden?
A truck to Sweden usually drives via Berlin to Rostock and takes the ferry to Trelleborg. Alternatives are the route through Denmark with the Puttgarden–Rødby ferry and the Øresund Bridge, or the overnight Kiel–Gothenburg ferry to the west of the country.
How long is the ferry from Rostock to Trelleborg?
The Rostock–Trelleborg ferry takes about 6–7 hours and sails several times a day, including at night. The driver takes his rest on board, so the crossing hardly adds to the total transit time.
How many kilometres is it from Prague to Stockholm?
Prague to Stockholm is about 1,180 km by road plus the Baltic ferry. Gothenburg is around 860 km and Malmö about 600 km, each including the ferry section.
Do trucks pay tolls in Sweden?
Sweden uses the time-based Eurovignette for trucks from 12 t, and the Øresund Bridge is charged separately. Ferry, bridge and vignette are included in our transport price.
Is there a weekend truck ban in Sweden?
No, Sweden has no weekend truck ban. Restrictions apply only on the German section, where trucks over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays.
Does a truck need winter tyres in Sweden?
Yes, in winter conditions (usually December to March) heavy vehicles in Sweden must have winter tyres. North of Stockholm we plan for snow and longer driving times.
Why do you need the exact weight for Sweden?
The shipment travels by ferry and the shipping line requires the vehicle and load to be declared in advance. Exact weight and dimensions let us book the right sailing and secure the load safely on board.
Do you deliver to Gothenburg and the west coast?
Yes, Gothenburg is one of our most frequent destinations in Sweden – home to the country's largest port and its automotive industry. It is about 300 km from Trelleborg, or reachable by the overnight ferry from Kiel.
Do you also go to northern Sweden?
Yes, we deliver to central and northern Sweden too, for example Sundsvall or Umeå. Allow one to two extra days of transit and, in winter, the effect of the weather.
Is transport to Sweden free of customs duty?
Yes, Sweden is an EU member, so goods travel without customs duty or formalities. Sweden does not use the euro, but that does not change invoicing between companies.
Do you carry single pallets to Sweden?
Yes, we carry single pallets to Sweden as part loads with other shipments via Rostock or Denmark. We recommend a full truck when you need a fixed unloading time.
Can you route goods to Sweden through Denmark?
Yes. We go through Denmark when it suits the unloading place better – for example Malmö, Helsingborg or the west. We choose the route by the next available ferry and the delivery point.
Do you also carry goods from Sweden to the Czech Republic?
Yes, we handle imports from Sweden regularly – mostly steel, paper, bearings and timber components. We load at the supplier anywhere in southern and central Sweden and deliver to the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
