Estonian goods for buyers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

  • Tallinn – electronics and electrical products, food and drinks, goods from city distribution warehouses.
  • Maardu and the port of Muuga – the country's largest cargo port east of Tallinn, with terminals and logistics sites.
  • Tartu – the second-largest city, in the south-east: food, drinks and orders from smaller manufacturers.
  • Pärnu – wood processing and furniture making on the south-west coast, right on the Via Baltica.
  • Across Estonia – prefabricated timber houses, wall panels and building elements; Estonia is one of Europe's largest exporters of wooden houses.

Winter and the seasons on the Estonian route

The run from Tallinn starts in the far north, where weather and seasons affect transport more than in central Europe. We build that into the quote:

  • December to March: snow and ice on the E67, and around the winter solstice Tallinn gets only about six hours of daylight. Trucks run with winter equipment, and for fixed delivery dates we add a day of buffer.
  • Frost: drinks, food and anything else that must not freeze travel in a reefer that keeps the temperature above zero.
  • Spring thaw: temporary weight limits may apply on minor roads, so we check access to rural sites in advance.
  • 23 and 24 June: Victory Day and Midsummer Day are public holidays and many warehouses close – we schedule loading before them.
  • November and December: the pre-Christmas retail peak, so book the vehicle a few days ahead.

The route: via Pärnu, Riga, Lithuania and Poland

From Tallinn, road 4 (E67) runs south-west to Pärnu and on to the Latvian border at Ikla and Ainaži. In Latvia the truck follows the coast to Riga, then goes via Bauska into Lithuania and via Kaunas to the Polish border. In Poland it takes the S61 towards Warsaw and continues south towards Katowice or Wrocław, entering the Czech Republic via Ostrava or north-east Bohemia. When loading in Tartu we often go via Valga and Valmiera instead. Tolls and road charges in all five countries on the route are included in the price we quote.

How we carry Estonian goods

Electronics travel in a box or curtainsider trailer, with pallets strapped against shifting. For prefab houses and wall panels we need the length, height and weight of the elements, and choose a side- or top-loading trailer accordingly. A full truck takes 33 euro pallets, 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t; smaller shipments from one pallet go as groupage.

Estonia is in the EU and the Schengen area, so nothing is cleared at the borders – a CMR note with an invoice or delivery note is enough. Non-EU goods collected in Muuga must be cleared before loading. We deliver anywhere in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

What we need for an Estonian quote

Send us the loading address (Tallinn, Muuga, Tartu…), the number and size of pallets, the weight, the type of goods and whether they can freeze, plus the delivery date you need. During office hours we reply with a price within 30 minutes, and after you confirm we usually arrange the vehicle within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How many days does a truck take from Tallinn to Brno?
Usually 2–3 days from loading. Brno is about 1,550 km from Tallinn, and the route runs through Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
Do you load at the port of Muuga?
Yes. Muuga lies near Maardu, east of Tallinn, and is Estonia's largest cargo port. Non-EU goods must be cleared before loading.
Does freight from Tallinn to the Czech Republic go by ferry or by road?
By road. The route follows the Via Baltica via Pärnu, Riga and Kaunas into Poland, so no Baltic Sea ferry is needed.
Do trucks still run from Tallinn in January when it snows?
Yes, the route operates all winter. Trucks run with winter equipment, and for fixed delivery dates we allow one extra day.
Can you protect drinks and food from Estonia against frost?
Yes. In winter they travel in a reefer that holds a set temperature above zero for the whole journey.
How do the holidays on 23 and 24 June affect loading in Estonia?
Victory Day and Midsummer Day are public holidays in Estonia and many warehouses are closed. We therefore schedule loading for the days before.
Can you transport electronics from Tallinn?
Yes. Electronics travel in a box or curtainsider trailer with strapped pallets, also as groupage from one pallet.
Do you carry prefab timber houses and wall panels from Estonia?
Yes, as long as they fit a 13.6 m trailer. Send us the dimensions and weight of the elements and we will pick a side- or top-loading trailer.
Can one run load in both Tartu and Tallinn?
Yes. Tartu is about 185 km from Tallinn; after the second pick-up the truck often continues via Valga and Valmiera towards Riga.
Is Pärnu on the way from Tallinn to the Czech Republic?
Yes, Pärnu is right on the E67 between Tallinn and the Latvian border, so a stop there hardly adds any distance.
How many borders does a truck from Estonia cross, and are goods checked there?
Four – Estonia/Latvia, Latvia/Lithuania, Lithuania/Poland and Poland/Czech Republic. All are EU countries, nothing is cleared, and a CMR with an invoice or delivery note is enough.
How far is Tallinn from Prague?
About 1,600 km by road. With the driver's mandatory breaks a truck usually covers it in 2–3 days.
Are there spring weight limits on Estonian roads?
During the spring thaw, temporary weight limits may apply on minor roads. If you load away from the main routes, we check access in advance.
Will a shipment from Tallinn arrive before Christmas?
Yes, if it leaves at least a week before Christmas Eve. Free vehicles are scarce before the holidays, so book a few days ahead.
Does it make sense to send just two pallets from Tallinn?
Yes. Two pallets travel as groupage with other goods from the Baltics, and if they are urgent we can send a van.
