From Vilnius and Kaunas we bring goods to the Czech Republic in up to 2 days from loading; Prague is about 1,150 km from Vilnius and Brno about 1,050 km.
Furniture and wood from Lithuania: what travels and how it should be packed
Lithuania is one of Europe’s large producers of furniture and wood products. Each type of goods needs its own packing and loading method:
- Flat-pack furniture in cartons – wardrobes, shelving, beds; cartons on pallets, stretch-wrapped, with corner protectors. Fixed dimensions allow stacking, so please mark it on the pallet.
- Upholstered sofas and armchairs – bulky and light, often without pallets, wrapped in film; the truck fills up by volume before weight, so pricing is by loading metre.
- Solid-wood furniture, wooden doors and windows – edges protected with cardboard or foam, windows in racks or lying flat on pallets, every piece strapped.
- Chipboard and MDF panels – heavy packs on timber bearers so a forklift can unload them; here the weight decides.
- Sawn timber and wooden packaging – bundles with spacer battens, pallets and crates in banded stacks.
Lithuanian cities where we load
- Vilnius – warehouses on the edge of the city, distribution and laser and instrument manufacturing.
- Kaunas – production and logistics sites, the large city closest to the Polish border.
- Klaipėda – Lithuania’s only seaport, with containers and warehouses for overseas cargo.
- Šiauliai – industry in the north of the country, including furniture and metal parts.
From Kaunas via Kalvarija into Poland and south to the Czech Republic
From Vilnius the truck takes the A1 motorway to Kaunas and then the A5 via Marijampolė to the Kalvarija – Budzisko border crossing. In Poland it continues on the S61 expressway towards Łomża, around Warsaw on the S8 and from Piotrków on the A1 via Katowice into the Czech Republic near Bohumín. The whole route stays inside the EU and does not pass through Belarus. Lithuanian road charges for trucks, the Polish e-TOLL and the Czech electronic toll are all included in the price we offer.
Over more than a thousand kilometres the driver needs a daily rest, hence the transit of up to 2 days. Lithuania is one hour ahead of the Czech Republic, so we confirm loading times in Lithuanian time.
A full truck or a few pallets of furniture
A full truck takes 33 euro pallets, 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t, but with furniture volume is usually the limit. Smaller shipments from 1 pallet join a groupage run, and bulky items without pallets are priced by loading metre. Lithuania is in the EU, so goods travel without customs with an invoice or delivery note and a CMR consignment note. Overseas cargo that arrived through Klaipėda must be cleared before loading. We deliver across the Czech Republic and to Slovakia.
