A truck from Würzburg to Prague (about 400 km) arrives within 1 day – goods loaded in the morning in Schweinfurt or Kitzingen often reach the consignee in the Czech Republic the same evening or next morning.
Lower Franconia between Frankfurt and Nuremberg: place, goods and how to load them
The Main valley has a varied industry, and each town has its typical load. We choose the vehicle and the securing method to match.
| Place | Typical goods | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| Schweinfurt | rolling bearings, shock absorbers, clutches and other vehicle parts | heavy crates on a small footprint – weight, not pallet count, fills the truck |
| Würzburg | printing presses and spare parts, goods from the Main port | machines on skids or in crates, often crane or side loading |
| Kitzingen, Volkach | Franconian wine in flat Bocksbeutel bottles | cartons on a wrapped pallet, low stacking, closed trailer |
| Iphofen | plasterboard and building materials | the truck reaches its weight limit before its volume |
| Aschaffenburg | forklift trucks, machine and vehicle parts | lash forklifts by the frame, load from the side or a dock |
| Bad Neustadt an der Saale | electric motors and automotive electronics | sensitive parts in cartons, keep dry |
Along the A3 to Nuremberg and Rozvadov – or via Cheb
From Würzburg and Aschaffenburg the truck takes the A3 to Nuremberg, then the A6 past Amberg to the Waidhaus – Rozvadov crossing and the D5 past Plzeň to Prague. From Schweinfurt it can leave on the A70 towards Bamberg; when the delivery is in Cheb, Sokolov or Karlovy Vary, the route via the A9 and A93 to the Schirnding – Pomezí nad Ohří crossing makes more sense. For Brno and on into Slovakia the truck continues on the D1. German and Czech tolls for the whole route are included in the price we quote.
In Germany vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 0:00 to 22:00. Bavaria has extra holidays such as Corpus Christi, so loadings before such a day are timed for the truck to clear the border in time.
Main valley wine, bearings and machines: how we carry them
- Wine: cartons of Bocksbeutel bottles go on a pallet, are stretch-wrapped and not stacked high. Wine is an excise good, so it travels with the excise accompanying document issued by the shipper.
- Bearings: crates from Schweinfurt are heavy for their size; we spread them along the trailer and lash them with straps.
- Machines: for printing presses and forklifts we need dimensions, weight and lifting points.
A full truck takes 33 euro pallets, 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t. For an urgent smaller shipment a van for about 5 pallets or a larger van for about 10 is enough. Goods from Bavaria are EU goods and travel without customs.
A Lower Franconia quote in half an hour
Send us the loading point (two are fine – Schweinfurt and Bad Neustadt combine easily), the number of pallets or crates, the weight and the delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. In office hours we reply within 30 minutes, and the vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours of confirmation – on this short route often for the same or next day.
