From Craiova and the rest of Oltenia we deliver to the Czech Republic or Slovakia usually in 2–3 days; Brno is about 950 km away and Prague about 1,150 km, so plants in Moravia and Slovakia get their goods first.
What Oltenia makes for Czech and Slovak plants
- Craiova – a car plant and suppliers in the industrial zones around the city: metal and plastic parts, wiring harnesses, components in totes and racks.
- Slatina – aluminium production (ingots, billets, rolled sheet and strip) and a seamless steel pipe mill.
- Drobeta-Turnu Severin – a Danube port at the Iron Gates; goods arriving by river can continue by truck.
- Târgu Jiu – building materials and engineering in Gorj County.
- Caracal – smaller producers whose pallets we pick up on the way from Craiova to Slatina.
Two ways north-west: via Sibiu or along the Danube
| Via Slatina, Pitești and Sibiu | Along the Danube via Drobeta and Lugoj | |
|---|---|---|
| Route | Craiova – Slatina – Pitești – Olt valley – Sibiu – A1 via Sebeș and Deva – Arad – Nădlac | Craiova – DN6 – Drobeta-Turnu Severin – Orșova – Caransebeș – Lugoj – A1 via Timișoara – Arad – Nădlac |
| Length | longer on the map | shorter on the map |
| Road | mostly motorway; the mountain section through the Olt valley is still being replaced by a motorway | a long stretch of two-lane DN6 through villages and passes, slower |
| Winter | the Olt valley and the section near Sibiu can be slowed by snow and closures | the mountain stretch between Orșova and Caransebeș is demanding in winter |
| Best for | loads from Slatina and Craiova, heavy coils and pipes | pick-ups in Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Târgu Jiu |
After Nădlac the truck takes the M43 to Szeged, the M5 and the M0 ring around Budapest onto the M1, and via Rajka and Bratislava the D2 to Brno; Prague deliveries continue on the D1. Drops in Bratislava, Trnava or Nitra are therefore on the way. The Romanian rovinieta, Hungarian HU-GO and the Slovak and Czech tolls are included in the price. Romania has been fully in Schengen since 2025 and EU goods are not cleared through customs. Hungary restricts trucks over 7.5 t at weekends and on holidays, and Romania has its own holiday and summer rules.
Pipes, aluminium and parts: how they are loaded
Seamless pipes from Slatina are crane-loaded from above or from the side, so we order a curtainsider with a sliding roof; pipes up to about 12 m fit on the 13.6 m deck. Aluminium ingots, billets and coils are heavy – the payload of about 24 t is reached before the space is filled, and coils travel in a coil well. Parts from Craiova, by contrast, are usually light and bulky, run to call-offs, and on the way back we take the empties. Oversize or overlength items travel with permits that we obtain in advance.
What to put in an enquiry from Oltenia
Give us the loading place, the delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, the goods, dimensions and weight (for pipes the length and number of bundles) and whether crane loading is needed. During office hours we send a price within 30 minutes, and after confirmation a vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours. Single pallets travel by groupage from 1 pallet.
