We arrange freight from Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca to the Czech Republic and Slovakia in usually 4–5 days: the load crosses overnight to Barcelona or Valencia and then covers about 1,700 km by road to Prague, or 1,900 km to Brno and Bratislava. A single pallet, a few pieces of furniture or a full trailer – we deliver to any address in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Why does island freight mostly travel on return runs?
Every week we organise a groupage line from the Czech Republic to the islands – see transport to Mallorca and Ibiza for how it works. Once the trailers have unloaded in Palma, on Ibiza or in Mahón, they head back to Central Europe, often with space to spare. A business on the island therefore does not have to wait until it has a whole truckload: tell us what is ready, and we book it onto the next return run that makes a suitable ferry.
For larger volumes or urgent goods we arrange a dedicated vehicle with one of the 500+ vetted contracted carriers we have worked with since 2011.
Where on the islands do we collect, and what ships from there?
| Collection point | Typical goods | Things to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Palma – Son Castelló, Son Rossinyol, Can Valero industrial estates | distributors' stock, retired hotel equipment, warehouse goods | the trailer comes straight in, dock or side loading |
| Inca and Marratxí | shoes and leather goods, Binissalem wine | workshops in narrow streets – often a smaller vehicle collects |
| Manacor | furniture from local workshops, artificial pearls | wrap furniture in blankets and film, label each item |
| Sóller and the Serra de Tramuntana | olive oil, almonds | mountain roads – smaller vehicle, transfer in Palma |
| Ibiza – Eivissa, Sant Antoni | villa, hotel and club fittings after the season | fewer sailings than from Mallorca, plan with slack |
| Menorca – Mahón, Ciutadella | household moves, shoes from local workshops | ferry from Mahón to Barcelona, closer to 5 days overall |
A large share of the work is moving Czechs and Slovaks who have lived or worked on the islands back home. An apartment's contents usually take up only a few loading metres, so they travel as a part load.
Which way does the load go from Barcelona?
In port a tractor unit picks up the trailer, which often sails unaccompanied. It takes the AP-7 to the La Jonquera / Le Perthus crossing, the French A9 and the Rhône valley up to the Rhine, then crosses southern Germany into the Czech Republic and, depending on the consignee, continues to Moravia or Slovakia. From the port of Barcelona it is roughly 1,700 km to Prague, 1,900 km to Brno or Bratislava, 2,100 km to Žilina and 2,200 km to Košice. Tolls in all five countries are included in the price.
Driving bans shape the schedule: France keeps trucks over 7.5 t off the road from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00, Germany on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 22:00. A ferry docking on Friday evening can therefore mean delivery on Monday or Tuesday – the quote tells you what to expect.
One pallet, part of a trailer or a full truck?
- Groupage – from one pallet; a euro pallet takes 0.4 loading metres.
- Part load – a few metres of trailer, typical for moves or furniture that does not sit on pallets.
- Full trailer – 13.6 loading metres, 33 euro pallets, about 24 t.
We often combine several suppliers: Binissalem wine, Sóller olive oil and shoes from Inca can share one vehicle, each consignment on its own CMR. For every supplier, give us a contact person and the order number the driver should quote at collection.
Who books the transport, and what paperwork is needed?
If you buy on the island EXW or FCA, transport is the buyer's job – so you book it with us. Under DAP the seller arranges it. The Balearics are inside the EU customs and VAT area: nothing is cleared, and a CMR plus a delivery note or invoice is all it takes. For household moves we recommend an inventory list. Unlike freight from the Canary Islands, there is no customs procedure at all.
Many island businesses load mainly in the morning, and in high season hotels and warehouses often allow trucks only in set time windows; on the regional holiday of the Balearic Islands nothing is loaded. We therefore agree the collection time in advance and tie it to the ferry departure.
What to send us for a quote
- Island, village and exact collection address (business, warehouse, or private house or finca).
- Loading hours and the collection reference.
- Number of pallets or loading metres, dimensions and weight; for furniture a list of larger items or photos.
- Delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia and whether there is a dock.
- When the goods are ready and when you need them.
During office hours you get a price within 30 minutes; after confirmation the vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours. General information on freight from mainland Spain is on our Spain transport page. If your goods leave the islands for another country, see the lanes Mallorca to Germany, Mallorca to Austria, Mallorca to Italy and Mallorca to France.
