From Lublin and eastern Poland we bring goods to the Czech Republic usually within 1–2 days from loading; Brno is about 670 km away, Prague about 870 km.
Lublin fruit country: product, season and temperature
| Product | Loading season | How it travels |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh raspberries (around Kraśnik and Opole Lubelskie) | July to October | refrigerated vehicle just above zero, shortest possible run without transhipment |
| Strawberries and blackcurrants | June and July | chilled, or frozen first and shipped as frozen fruit |
| Apples | harvest in September and October, from cold stores into spring and summer | refrigerated vehicle at the shipper’s temperature (usually a few degrees above zero) |
| Frozen raspberries, strawberries and currants | all year from freezing plants | frozen mode at −18 °C or colder, trailer pre-cooled |
| Pressed hops | harvest late August and September, then all year | dry closed trailer, chilled if the shipper asks |
The Lublin voivodeship is one of Poland’s main raspberry and hop growing areas. The shipper always sets the temperature; the reefer unit’s record can document it for the whole journey.
Why Brno, Ostrava and Slovakia are much closer than Prague from here
From Lublin the route runs south on the S19 to Rzeszów, west on the A4 past Tarnów, Kraków and Katowice and down the A1 to the Gorzyczki – Věřňovice crossing. Ostrava is the first big city across the border and Brno is about 670 km away, while Prague is about 870 km – a good 200 km and often half a day more. For fruit distributed across the Czech Republic, a warehouse or cross-dock in Moravia therefore makes sense. Eastern Slovakia is even nearer: from Rzeszów through Barwinek – Vyšný Komárnik to Prešov and Košice, without touching the Czech Republic. The Polish e-TOLL, the tolled A4 section and the Czech and Slovak tolls are included in the quoted price.
Other loading points in eastern Poland
- Lublin – industrial zones on the city’s edge with engineering and component production, plus food plants.
- Świdnik – Lublin airport and aircraft manufacturing, parts in rigid crates.
- Puławy and Opole Lubelskie – orchards, raspberry plantations and hop gardens in the Vistula valley.
- Zamość – farm and food products from the south-east of the region.
- Biała Podlaska and Małaszewicze – rail terminal on the Belarusian border, where container trains from Asia arrive.
Chilled and frozen loads from the Lublin region in practice
Frozen fruit goes into a pre-cooled trailer, with gaps left between cartons or sacks on pallets and along the walls so the air can circulate. A full reefer trailer holds 33 euro pallets. For a few pallets of dry goods there is groupage from 1 pallet; smaller chilled consignments join a vehicle running at the same temperature in the same direction, or we arrange a refrigerated van. Poland is in the EU, so fruit travels to the Czech Republic and Slovakia duty-free. Goods from the trains at Małaszewicze must be cleared beforehand – that is done by the shipper’s customs agent.
How to request a pick-up in the Lublin region
Send us the loading point, the delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, the product with its set temperature, the number of pallets and the weight. For fresh fruit, add the harvest or ready date so the vehicle can be there straight away. You get the quote within 30 minutes in office hours, and the vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours of confirmation.
