From Enschede, Hengelo and Almelo goods reach the Czech Republic in up to 2 days – Twente sits right on the German border, about 730 km from Prague and about 940 km from Brno.
Twente: industry within sight of Germany
The former textile capital of the Netherlands has turned to engineering and technology, yet fabrics are still made here – today mostly technical ones. What the region sends to Czech and Slovak plants:
| Place | What is made or stored here | How it usually travels |
|---|---|---|
| Hengelo | machinery, equipment for energy and electronics, precision machining | crates and machines on pallets, loaded by crane or forklift |
| Enschede | high-tech components and electronics | smaller shock- and ESD-sensitive consignments |
| Almelo and Nijverdal | technical textiles, artificial turf, geotextiles | rolls and bales, often bulky but light |
| Oldenzaal and around | plastics, packaging and food products | pallets, a reefer trailer for food |
| Zwolle and Deventer | distribution warehouses and logistics sites on the A1 and A28 | consolidated shipments for Central Europe |
Hengelo and Almelo also have a container terminal on the Twente canal, where goods arrive by barge from the seaports – we collect pallets there or arrange the transfer onto a truck.
Why Twente is one of the fastest Dutch regions to Bohemia
From Rotterdam a truck first crosses the whole country; from Hengelo the border at Oldenzaal is minutes away. The usual route:
- A1 to the border at De Lutte, then the A30 past Osnabrück in Germany.
- Onto the A2 via Bad Oeynhausen and Hanover to Magdeburg.
- A14 towards Halle and Leipzig, then the A14 and A4 to Dresden.
- A17 to the Breitenau/Petrovice crossing and the D8 into Prague.
For southern Bohemia and the Plzeň region, or when the A2 is blocked, we use the A31 through the Ruhr, the A44 to Kassel and on through Thuringia. For Moravia and Slovakia the vehicle continues from Prague on the D1 via Brno. German and Czech tolls are included in the quoted price. In Germany vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 0:00 to 22:00, so a Saturday collection in Twente usually means delivery on Monday.
Sensitive equipment, light textiles and returning empties
- Electronics and instruments – consignments in ESD packaging, crates with tilt and shock indicators. We load without restacking and with as few transfers as possible.
- Heavy machines from Hengelo – side or top loading onto a curtainsider, lashed with straps. For oversize pieces we arrange the necessary permits.
- Rolls of technical textiles – the trailer fills by volume before weight, so we need the length and diameter of the rolls, not just the weight.
- Returnable packaging – empty racks and pallets can go back to Twente.
A full truck takes 33 euro pallets, i.e. 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t. Single pallets travel as groupage from 1 pallet.
