A shipment from Bielefeld reaches the Czech Republic in 1–2 days – Prague is about 610 km away, Brno about 820 km.
Kitchens, sofas and cabinets from Herford, Löhne and Rheda-Wiedenbrück
Between Bielefeld, Herford and Löhne lies one of Europe's biggest clusters of furniture and fitted-kitchen makers; every September the kitchen industry holds its in-house shows along the A30. Furniture, however, is loaded differently from palletised goods:
- Charged by loading metre. Kitchen units, carcasses and upholstered suites often are not on pallets, so we price by the length of trailer they occupy – a full trailer has 13.6 loading metres.
- Upholstery is never stacked. Sofas and armchairs travel in a single layer with nothing on top, even if there is headroom left.
- Blankets and corner guards. Unpacked or only film-wrapped pieces are padded with blankets and the corners protected, so lacquered surfaces do not rub.
- Flat-pack cartons (wardrobes, shelving) can be stacked, but only as high as the carton can bear – please say so in your request.
- Worktops and fronts stand on edge against the side wall or lie flat on an even base, never across the edge of other goods.
For showrooms and shops in the Czech Republic without a loading dock we arrange a vehicle with a tail lift.
Other cargo from East Westphalia-Lippe
- Gütersloh – household appliances, printed products and media
- Harsewinkel – farm machinery and spare parts
- Bielefeld – food (baking and dessert ingredients), engineering and a linen and textile tradition
- Rheda-Wiedenbrück – besides furniture, large-scale meat processing; chilled goods travel in a reefer
- Paderborn – electronics and IT hardware
- Minden – a port where the Mittelland Canal crosses the Weser
From the Teutoburg Forest to the Elbe: two ways into Bohemia
Depending on the pick-up, the vehicle either takes the A2 via Hanover and Magdeburg and then the A14, or the A33 and A44 towards Kassel and on via Göttingen and the A38 to Halle. Both options meet before Dresden and enter the Czech Republic on the A17 through the Breitenau – Krásný Les crossing, then the D8 to Prague. For Moravia and Slovakia the truck continues on the D1 via Brno. German and Czech tolls are included in the price we quote. In Germany, trucks over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 0:00 to 22:00, so furniture loaded on a Friday afternoon is usually delivered on Monday.
How much space your shipment takes
A full truck takes 33 euro pallets or 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t – with furniture the floor fills up long before the weight limit is reached. A single sofa or one customer's kitchen can go as groupage, and palletised goods from 1 pallet. Smaller urgent deliveries fit a van for about 5 pallets or a larger van for about 10. Goods from Germany are EU goods and travel without customs.
What to put in a request from Bielefeld
The loading address, the delivery point in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, the dimensions of the pieces or the number of loading metres, the weight, whether the goods are on pallets and whether they can be stacked. Tell us too whether the consignee has a dock. During office hours you get a price within 30 minutes, and a vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours of confirmation.
