From Bayreuth and Upper Franconia goods reach the Czech Republic within 1 day – Prague is about 260 km away, Brno about 460 km, and a part loaded in Selb or Hof in the morning is often at a Czech production line the same day.
Upper Franconia just past Cheb: who makes what, and how it is packed
Upper Franconia is the German industrial region closest to West Bohemia. From Marktredwitz to the border at Schirnding is a short hop, and a truck from Bayreuth reaches Karlovy Vary in roughly two hours. Each town ships different goods, though, and needs different handling:
| Place | Typical goods | What we watch |
|---|---|---|
| Selb, Arzberg | porcelain, hotel and catering tableware | fragile, cartons on pallets, no stacking, delivered without transhipment |
| Marktredwitz, Selb | technical ceramics, insulators, ceramic parts for electrical engineering | shock-sensitive, padded crates, secured against shifting |
| Coburg, Bamberg | automotive parts, seat and door mechanisms | delivery windows (JIT), empties and racks back |
| Coburg, Lichtenfels | upholstered furniture and components | bulky and light, enclosed trailer, blankets and straps |
| Hof, Naila | technical textiles, plastic parts and films | rolls and cartons, low weight, volume decides |
| Kulmbach, Bayreuth | food, spices, beer | beer only with an excise document, food in a clean dry vehicle |
Schirnding, Waidhaus or Saxony? We choose the crossing by the delivery address
- Schirnding – Pomezí nad Ohří: from the A93 near Marktredwitz along the B303 to Cheb, then the D6 via Sokolov and Karlovy Vary to Prague. The shortest way into West and North-West Bohemia.
- Waidhaus – Rozvadov: south on the A93 to Weiden, then the A6 and D5 to Plzeň and Prague. Good for the Plzeň region, for heavy vehicles and for Moravia, reached by continuing on the D1.
- Hof – A72 through Saxony: from Hof via Plauen and Chemnitz towards Dresden, then the D8 to Ústí nad Labem. Suits North Bohemia and the Liberec region.
German truck toll (Maut) and Czech motorway toll are included in the price we quote. In Germany vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 0:00 to 22:00, and the Czech Republic has an afternoon ban on Sundays and holidays – so a Friday collection is planned to unload the same day.
Porcelain, ceramics and production parts: how we arrange the move
With porcelain from Selb or ceramics from Marktredwitz the issue is not weight but vibration and handling. For smaller lots we therefore prefer a direct van run (about 5 or 10 pallets) to a groupage line with several transhipments. Parts from Coburg and Bamberg for Czech car plants are collected to match the goods-in time slot, and returnable racks, boxes and empties go back to Franconia. A full truck takes 33 euro pallets (13.6 loading metres, about 24 t); as groupage we also carry a single pallet anywhere in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
What to put in an Upper Franconia enquiry
The loading place (for example Selb, Hof or Kulmbach), the delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, the number of pallets or crates with dimensions and weight, and the date you need the goods. For fragile items, tell us whether they may be stacked. You get a price within 30 minutes in office hours, and on this short route we often arrange the vehicle the same or the next day after confirmation.
