From Banská Bystrica, Zvolen and the surrounding area we deliver to the Czech Republic within 1 day – Brno is about 340 km away and Prague about 540 km, so in Moravia goods are often unloaded on the day they are collected.
The Hron valley and Podpoľanie: where we load and what
Central Slovakia is not one industrial city but a chain of smaller centres along the river Hron. Each has its own typical cargo, and that decides the trailer:
| Place | Typical cargo | How it usually travels |
|---|---|---|
| Žiar nad Hronom | aluminium profiles, sheet, castings and semi-finished products | bundled on pallets or racks, often as a part load |
| Detva | engineering parts, frames and components for work machines | curtainsider loaded from the side or top |
| Brezno and Podbrezová | steel tubes, structures and metal parts | bundles along the full deck, secured with straps |
| Zvolen | sawn timber, beams, furniture components and wooden pallets | full 13.6 m truck, kept dry under the curtain |
| Banská Bystrica | food, drinks and stock from distribution warehouses | groupage from 1 pallet, temperature-controlled if needed |
R1 to Nitra and Trnava, then the D2 to Brno
The usual line runs from Banská Bystrica along the R1 expressway via Zvolen, down the Hron valley past Žarnovica to Nitra and Trnava. From Trnava the truck takes the D1 towards Bratislava and the D2 across the Kúty/Lanžhot border crossing to Břeclav and Brno; for Bohemia it continues on the Czech D1. Almost the whole run is expressway or motorway with no mountain passes. For drops around Ostrava the northern option via Donovaly, Ružomberok and Žilina can be shorter, though in winter we allow for snow on the pass. Slovak and Czech electronic tolls are included in the price we quote. Trucks over 7.5 t may not drive in the Czech Republic on Sundays and public holidays from 13:00 to 22:00, so Sunday deliveries are moved to Monday.
Aluminium, timber and steel: what to prepare before loading
- Aluminium profiles – interleave visible faces with paper or film and strap the bundles; we run straps over edge protectors so they leave no marks.
- Timber from Zvolen – dry timber belongs under a curtain, and packs need bearers underneath so a forklift can lift them.
- Machine parts from Detva – give weight, dimensions and centre of gravity; parts without a pallet need lifting points for a crane or forks.
- Tubes from Podbrezová – bundles tightly bound and resting on dunnage; tell us the exact length so we choose the right trailer.
A shipment can travel as a full truck (33 euro pallets, about 24 t), a part load or groupage from a single pallet. For small urgent consignments a van for roughly 5 to 10 pallets is enough.
Your Banská Bystrica quote in three steps
- Tell us the loading point (Banská Bystrica, Zvolen, Detva, Brezno, Žiar nad Hronom…) and the delivery address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
- Add the pallet count or the length and weight of the goods and the date they will be ready.
- You get a price within 30 minutes in office hours; after confirmation we usually arrange the vehicle within 24 hours, and on the short run to Moravia often the same or next day.
Goods move between Slovakia and the Czech Republic with no customs formalities – a CMR consignment note and the delivery note are enough.
