We arrange freight from Naples and Campania to the Czech Republic, usually within 2–3 days of loading, running direct with no transhipment. Naples is about 1,450 km from Brno and roughly 1,500 km from Prague. A single pallet of pasta or a full reefer of buffalo mozzarella – we deliver to any address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
Where around Naples do we collect?
Southern Italy ships mostly food north, but there is industrial cargo too. Each district has its own product mix, and that decides which trailer we book:
| District | Typical goods | What matters at collection |
|---|---|---|
| Gragnano, Sorrento peninsula | dried pasta, lemons, lemon liqueur | pasta kept dry and not crushed, lemons chilled, liqueur with its excise paperwork |
| Agro Nocerino-Sarnese (Nocera, Sarno, Angri) | peeled tomatoes, passata, tinned goods | heavy pallets, frost protection in winter |
| Caserta, Piana del Sele near Battipaglia | buffalo mozzarella | reefer, short shelf life, no waiting at either end |
| Nola and Marcianise inland terminals | mixed goods from several producers | warehouse docks with booked slots, consolidation into one vehicle |
| Pomigliano d'Arco | automotive and aerospace components | fixed delivery windows at the plant, returnable packaging |
| Salerno | container and ro-ro cargo after clearance | release by the consignee, terminal reference |
Why does a truck from Naples reach Brno sooner than Prague?
The driver heads north on the A1 past Rome and Florence to Bologna, where the route splits. For Bohemia it continues via Verona, the Brenner, Tyrol and Bavaria. For Moravia and Slovakia the eastern branch through Venice, Tarvisio, Carinthia and Vienna is shorter, crossing into the Czech Republic at Mikulov. If you also buy in Lazio or Tuscany, the load can be topped up on the way – see our pages on freight from Rome and from Florence. Italian, Austrian and Czech tolls are included in the price.
How do we keep mozzarella from sitting out a Sunday?
Fresh dairy from Campania has a short shelf life, and over more than a thousand kilometres that is the main risk. Italy bans vehicles above 7.5 t on Sundays and public holidays, usually 9:00–22:00 and from 7:00 in summer, plus further days set in its annual calendar. Austria restricts trucks from Saturday 15:00. We therefore prefer to load chilled goods Monday to Wednesday. When a producer can only load on Friday, we plan the run so the vehicle is not parked in Italy over Sunday – which means we need your warehouse receiving hours up front. Lemons travel chilled; liqueur needs no temperature control.
Why won't 33 pallets of pasta or tins fit on one trailer?
A standard trailer takes 33 euro pallets, 13.6 loading metres and about 24 t. With Campanian food, weight usually runs out before floor space: pallets of tinned tomatoes or packed pasta are heavy enough that the payload is reached with spaces still free. Please give us the weight of each pallet, not just the count. Tomato processing runs from July to September, so the new season's stock leaves from late summer. Pasta moves all year, peaking before Christmas, when booking capacity early pays off.
Can several Campanian suppliers share one vehicle?
Yes – for smaller importers that is the usual request: a few pallets of pasta from Gragnano, tins from Nocera and some cartons of liqueur from Sorrento. Here is how it works:
- send every supplier address with the pallet count and weight at each;
- add the order number or reference the goods are held under;
- we plan the pickup sequence and, where useful, use a warehouse at the Nola or Marcianise terminal;
- everything arrives as one consignment, or split across several drop points in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Groupage starts from one pallet and you pay only for the space used; one euro pallet takes 0.4 loading metres. For larger quantities we compare groupage with a part load and recommend whichever suits you better.
Cargo from the port of Salerno, Incoterms and documents
Salerno handles containers and ro-ro traffic. We arrange onward road transport once the goods are cleared; customs formalities are handled by the consignee's customs agent. Goods made in Italy need no customs at all: an invoice, delivery note and CMR consignment note are enough. For liqueurs and spirits, the sender and receiver deal with excise duty and the accompanying document. Who books the truck depends on the Incoterm: under EXW or FCA the Czech buyer books us, under DAP the Italian supplier arranges it. General information is on transport from Italy; for the Adriatic coast see Ancona.
What should a quote request from Naples include?
- collection address(es) and loading hours – many southern warehouses load only in the morning;
- pickup reference or order number;
- pallets or loading metres and the weight of each pallet;
- temperature: chilled, ambient or frost-free;
- ready date and delivery postcode.
You get a price within 30 minutes during office hours, and a vehicle is usually arranged within 24 hours of confirmation. Knapek Spedition in Břeclav has organised road freight since 2011 with more than 500 vetted contracted carriers.
