Miskolc is the closest large Hungarian city for eastern Slovakia and northern Moravia. Brno is about 540 km away and Prague about 730 km, and we choose the route by where the goods are going.

From Miskolc and north-east Hungary we bring goods to the Czech Republic in 2–3 days; Brno is about 540 km away and Prague about 730 km, and because the route crosses Slovakia, part of the load can be dropped there on the way.

Borsod, Heves and Szabolcs: what is loaded around Miskolc

  • Miskolc – engineering, electrical goods and automotive parts from the industrial parks on the edge of the city.
  • Tiszaújváros – plastic granulate in big bags and on pallets, plastic products.
  • Kazincbarcika – industrial site in the Sajó valley; part loads and pallets for construction and manufacturing.
  • Nyíregyháza – tyres, toys from a large factory near the city, and food from the surrounding farmland.
  • Eger and Tokaj – wine in cartons and wooden cases, always with an excise document.

Two ways north: via Košice or via Budapest

Two sensible lines lead from Miskolc to us. The M30 motorway ends at the border near Tornyosnémeti, where the Slovak crossing at Milhosť connects to the expressway into Košice. The other option is the M30 and M3 to Budapest, then the M1 to Győr, the M15 to the Rajka crossing and through Bratislava on the D2 to Brno. Which one we use depends mainly on the delivery point:

Where the goods goUsual routeWhy
Košice, Prešov, eastern SlovakiaM30 – Tornyosnémeti/Milhosťonly a short stretch, often unloaded the same day
Žilina, Ostrava, Olomoucvia Košice, then north via Poprad and Žilinashortest link to northern Moravia
Bratislava, Brno, southern MoraviaBudapest – M1 – Rajka – D2motorway all the way, no mountain sections
Prague and BohemiaBudapest – Bratislava – Brno – D1smoothest drive over a long distance

On the northern route part of the load can be delivered in eastern and central Slovakia; on the southern route in Bratislava or western Slovakia.

Hungarian rules: HU-GO, weekends and national holidays

Truck tolls in Hungary are charged per kilometre through the HU-GO system; together with Slovak and Czech tolls they are included in the price we quote. Trucks over 7.5 t face weekend and holiday driving restrictions in Hungary, so Friday afternoon is not an ideal loading slot for distant addresses. We also watch Hungarian national holidays such as 15 March, 20 August and 23 October, when warehouses are often closed. Goods from Hungary are EU goods, so they travel without customs and nobody stops at the Schengen borders.

Planning a shipment from Miskolc

Plastic granulate in big bags is loaded by forklift and secured in the trailer so the bags do not lean on the curtain. Tyres from Nyíregyháza are a matter of volume, and wine from Eger and Tokaj travels in cartons on film-wrapped pallets. For machine parts from Miskolc we need the weight and centre of gravity. A full truck takes 33 euro pallets and about 24 t; smaller shipments go as groupage from one pallet.

In your enquiry, give the loading point (Miskolc, Eger, Tiszaújváros, Nyíregyháza…), the address in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, the type and amount of goods and the ready date. We send a price within 30 minutes in office hours and usually arrange the vehicle within 24 hours of confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Does a truck from Miskolc to Brno go via Košice or via Budapest?
For Brno and southern Moravia usually via Budapest, Rajka and Bratislava, because it is motorway all the way. Via Košice we mainly serve eastern Slovakia and the Ostrava area.
Is Brno really nearer to Miskolc than Prague?
The route runs through Slovakia and Brno comes first. Brno is about 540 km away, Prague about 730 km.
How many days does the northern route from Miskolc to the Ostrava area take?
Usually 2–3 days. The vehicle crosses at Tornyosnémeti and Milhosť to Košice and continues on the northern route via Poprad and Žilina.
Can part of the goods be unloaded in Košice on the way?
Yes, Košice lies just across the border on the M30 and R4. A part drop there hardly lengthens the run to Moravia.
Will you carry plastic granulate in big bags from Tiszaújváros?
Yes. Bags should stand on pallets or have loops for a forklift; in the trailer we secure them so they neither tip nor lean on the curtain.
Do you build the per-kilometre HU-GO charge into the quote?
Yes, the per-kilometre HU-GO charge is included in the quoted price together with Slovak and Czech tolls.
Can I send Tokaji wine from Hungary to the Czech Republic?
Yes, in cartons or wooden cases on pallets. The wine needs an excise document, which the sender and consignee arrange.
Will you take tyres from Nyíregyháza as a full truck?
Yes. With tyres volume decides, so we need the number of pieces and sizes; from that we judge whether a part load is enough or a full trailer is needed.
Can a truck set off from Miskolc on a Saturday?
Vehicles over 7.5 t face weekend and holiday restrictions in Hungary. We therefore plan Friday collections for distant addresses with the weekend in mind.
Do Hungarian national holidays affect loading in Miskolc?
They can. Around 15 March, 20 August and 23 October warehouses are often closed and traffic is restricted, so we allow for these days in the schedule.
Is a customs declaration needed for goods leaving north-east Hungary for Czechia?
No, Hungary is in the EU and Schengen and goods travel duty-free. A CMR note and commercial documents are enough.
Can you carry one pallet of machine parts from Miskolc to Zlín?
Yes, as groupage from 1 pallet. The shipment joins a vehicle running from north-east Hungary to Moravia.
Do you load in Eger and pick up in Miskolc on the same run?
Yes, Eger is just off the M3 motorway, so collections there and in Miskolc can be combined in one trip.
Do you deliver from Miskolc to Bratislava or Banská Bystrica too?
Yes, besides the Czech Republic we arrange delivery anywhere in Slovakia – to Bratislava via Budapest, to eastern and central Slovakia via Košice.
How quickly can a truck be in Miskolc?
Usually within 24 hours of order confirmation. We send the price within 30 minutes of your enquiry in office hours.
