What is the route from the Czech Republic to France?

We reach France in transit through Germany. From Prague the shortest route runs along the D5 via Rozvadov, then the A6 via Nuremberg, Heilbronn and Mannheim to the border at Saarbrücken and the A4 via Metz and Reims to Paris – about 1,030 km in total, roughly 1,250 km from Brno.

For southern France (Lyon, Grenoble, Marseille) the route goes via Karlsruhe, Mulhouse and the Rhône valley. All borders on the way are inside Schengen, so the truck never waits for a check. The shipment usually reaches the consignee 2–3 days after loading.

Where we go in France – industrial centres

We most often head to these cities and industrial areas with manufacturing and automotive companies:

  • Paris – production, logistics
  • Lyon – chemicals, pharma
  • Strasbourg – automotive
  • Mulhouse – Stellantis (PSA)
  • Marseille – port
  • Toulouse – Airbus – aerospace
  • Lille – logistics
  • Nantes – production
  • Bordeaux – aerospace, wine
  • Dijon – food

What do we transport to France?

To France we mostly carry parts and components for car plants in Alsace, Lorraine and the north, engineering products, glass and porcelain, furniture and palletised goods for distribution warehouses around Paris and Lille.

French warehouses only accept goods in a pre-booked slot (rendez-vous). We therefore agree the unloading time in advance and the driver carries it together with the consignee's order number.

Which tolls and rules apply in France?

  • Tolls: French motorways (autoroutes) are mostly tolled by distance – at toll plazas or electronically with an on-board unit. National roads (routes nationales) are generally free.
  • Driving ban: vehicles over 7.5 t may not run from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00, nor from 22:00 on the eve of a public holiday to 22:00 on the holiday. In summer there are extra Saturday bans on selected routes.
  • Winter equipment: in mountain areas (Alps, Vosges, Pyrenees, Massif Central) winter tyres or carried snow chains are mandatory from 1 November to 31 March.
  • Unloading: without a booked rendez-vous a warehouse may turn the truck away or make it wait for the next free slot.

In France vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00 or on public holidays (from 22:00 the evening before). In summer Saturday bans are added on selected routes, which we take into account when planning the loading.

What happens if there is a strike or road blockade in France?
Strikes and protest blockades occur in France from time to time. We monitor the situation, take a detour when roads are closed and, if needed, agree a new unloading time with the consignee.

Yes. Single pallets travel as part loads together with other shipments to France, mainly towards Paris, Lyon and Alsace. We offer a full truck when you are in a hurry or the goods are bulky.

Yes, we handle imports from France regularly – most often from Alsace, Lyon, Lille and Paris. We collect the goods at your French supplier and deliver anywhere in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
