How does the Prague → Berlin route run?
From Prague we take the D8 motorway via Ústí nad Labem to the Krásný Les – Breitenau border crossing, then the A17 past Dresden and the A13 through Lusatia to the Berlin ring road A10. The distance is about 350 km, almost all of it on motorways.
A van with an express shipment covers the route in one working day, and can do the return trip if needed. A truck loaded in Prague in the morning usually unloads in Berlin the same afternoon, or the next morning in an agreed time slot.
Where do we load and unload between Prague and Berlin?
In Prague we mostly load at the logistics parks on the edge of the city – Rudná and Jažlovice, Zdiby, Úžice or Kozomín near the D8 – and directly at production sites throughout Central Bohemia.
In Berlin we mainly unload at warehouses along the A10 ring: Großbeeren, Ludwigsfelde, Wustermark or around BER airport in Schönefeld. We also deliver to the city centre and to shopping centres, where fixed delivery windows are common.
What is shipped between Prague and Berlin?
Goods for wholesale and e-commerce warehouses dominate, along with engineering parts, packaging, furniture and building materials for Berlin construction sites. Depending on volume we arrange a van for one to several pallets, a 7.5-tonne truck or an articulated truck for 33 euro pallets.
Smaller shipments are consolidated into part loads – as the route passes Dresden on the D8 and A17, it is easy to add a pick-up or drop in Ústí nad Labem or elsewhere in Saxony.
What to watch out for on the Prague → Berlin route
- The German truck toll applies to vehicles over 3.5 t on all motorways and federal roads; in the Czech Republic the electronic toll is charged on the D8.
- In Germany vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 00:00 to 22:00; in the Czech Republic on Sundays and public holidays from 13:00 to 22:00.
- Regional holidays count too: on 31 October trucks cannot drive through Saxony, and in Berlin 8 March is a public holiday. Dates are in our driving ban calendar.
- Central Berlin inside the S-Bahn ring is a low-emission zone (Umweltzone) – the vehicle needs the green sticker.
- The D8 in the Ore Mountains near Krásný Les often has snow and fog in winter, so winter runs are planned with a time buffer.
