From Oradea and Arad we deliver to the Czech Republic or Slovakia in usually 2–3 days – this is the Romanian region nearest to Central Europe, and Brno is closer to it than Prague.
Borș or Nădlac: which crossing for which destination
Western Romania has two main road crossings into Hungary. Since 1 January 2025 Romania has been a full Schengen member, so there are no more queues for checks there. The choice depends mainly on where the goods are loaded and where they are going.
| Crossing | Onward route in Hungary | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Borș / Ártánd (Oradea) | towards Berettyóújfalu and Debrecen, on to Miskolc, or via Püspökladány to Budapest | eastern Slovakia (Košice, Prešov via Milhosť), central Slovakia, the Ostrava region |
| Nădlac (Arad) | M43 motorway to Szeged, M5 to Budapest, M1 towards Győr | Bratislava, Brno, Zlín, Prague and western Bohemia |
Loads from Oradea for South Moravia usually run via Borș and Budapest; from Arad, Curtici or the Banat the motorway through Nădlac is faster. Bratislava and Trnava lie on the way to Brno, so a drop in western Slovakia adds no detour.
What Bihor and Arad counties ship
- Oradea – industrial parks on the edge of town making automotive components, electronics and plastic parts.
- Arad – wiring harnesses and parts for car plants, components for railway wagons, metalwork.
- Beiuș and the Apuseni foothills – sawn timber, wooden semi-finished goods and furniture.
- Salonta and the Arad plain – grain, seed and farm produce in sacks on pallets.
- Curtici – logistics sites and warehouses at the border where shipments for Central Europe are consolidated.
Crossing Hungary: the rules we plan around
Romania charges trucks a time-based vignette (rovinieta), Hungary a distance-based HU-GO toll, followed by the Slovak and Czech electronic tolls. All of these are included in the price we quote. Hungary restricts trucks over 7.5 t at weekends and on public holidays, and Romania has its own holiday restrictions, so a Friday pick-up in Oradea is planned to clear Hungary the same day.
What a typical Oradea or Arad shipment looks like
Automotive suppliers often send regular loads in plastic crates on pallets; furniture makers ship bulky, light goods where loading metres matter more than weight. For a few pallets use groupage, for furniture a full trailer with 13.6 loading metres and 33 euro pallets, and for heavy coils or wagon parts a curtain-sider that can be loaded from the side.
