We arrange freight from Burgos to the Czech Republic for tyres, parts for car plants, cured meats, cheese and other goods – as full truckloads, part loads or groupage from a single pallet. Goods usually reach the consignee in 3–4 days; Prague is about 2,000 km away and Brno about 2,200 km. Burgos lies right on the shortest route from central Spain to the French border.
Why is it so easy to add a shipment to a truck passing Burgos?
At Burgos the A-1 from Madrid to Irún meets the A-62, which comes from the Portuguese border via Salamanca and Valladolid. Most trucks from Madrid, Castile and Portugal therefore pass the city on their way north. For shippers in Burgos this means that even a smaller consignment can go on a truck already heading for the border – no dedicated trip and no big detour. It is typically added to a load from Madrid or Valladolid. All it takes is for the goods to be palletised and ready at the agreed time, and for the warehouse to have a dock or a forklift for side loading.
Where in Burgos province do we load?
- Villalonquéjar – industrial estate in western Burgos: tyres, parts for car plants, metal and plastic components.
- Burgos and nearby villages – cured meats, morcilla black pudding and fresh cheese; always in a reefer with monitored temperature.
- Miranda de Ebro – logistics sites at the railway junction and industrial goods; right on the route to the border.
- Aranda de Duero – dairy and bakery products and Ribera del Duero wine, which travels with an excise document.
- Briviesca – smaller industrial estate on the A-1, picked up on the way without a detour.
Which route will goods from Burgos take to your address?
From Burgos the truck takes the A-1 through the Pancorbo gorge to Miranda de Ebro, past Vitoria-Gasteiz and through Gipuzkoa to the Irún – Hendaye crossing; on the way it can collect goods in the Basque Country. In France the route splits depending on where in Czechia or Slovakia the goods are going:
| Delivery area | Usual route through France | Onward to destination |
|---|---|---|
| Prague, Plzeň, western and northern Bohemia | A63 to Bordeaux, A10 towards Paris, A4 via Metz and Saarbrücken | Mannheim, Nuremberg, Rozvadov |
| Moravia and eastern Bohemia | from Bordeaux on the A89 to Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon, then to Mulhouse | through southern Germany into Bohemia, or via Austria to Moravia |
| Slovakia | as for Moravia, via Lyon and Mulhouse | via Austria or via Moravia |
Remaining Spanish toll sections, French péage and German, Austrian and Czech tolls are included in the quoted price. Transit is 3–4 days on either route.
When should you load for delivery in the same week?
In France vehicles over 7.5 t may not run from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00 or on holidays; in Germany they are banned on Sundays and holidays from 0:00 to 22:00, and in Austria from as early as Saturday 15:00. Loading in Burgos on Monday or Tuesday therefore usually means delivery the same week, while a Friday load arrives the following week. Winter is the other factor: Burgos sits on the Meseta plateau, where it freezes and snows in winter, as it does on the mountain stretches in Gipuzkoa. In the winter months we add a buffer to the plan and book a temperature-controlled truck for goods that must not get too cold.
Tyres, parts and chilled food: how trailer space is worked out
Tyres from Villalonquéjar fill a trailer before it reaches its payload of about 24 t, so we need the number of tyres and their size. Parts for car plants travel on pallets or in racks with a delivery slot, and the empties can go back to Spain. For cured meats and cheese we book a reefer and the shipper sets the temperature. A full truck takes 33 euro pallets, 13.6 loading metres; one euro pallet takes 0.4 ldm. Groupage starts at 1 pallet, and above about a third of a trailer a part load without transhipment pays off. We combine several suppliers from Burgos and the surrounding area into one truck.
Incoterms, documents and how to request freight from Burgos
Under EXW or FCA the buyer books the transport and we arrange it from the dock in Burgos; under DAP the supplier arranges it. Every country on the route is in the EU, so goods travel without customs and a CMR consignment note plus delivery note or invoice is enough; wine and other excise goods need the excise document. General information on the whole country is on our page about transport from Spain. Send us the loading address (industrial estate, town) and loading hours, delivery address, number of pallets or tyres, weight, any temperature requirement and the date you need. During office hours you get a price within 30 minutes, and after confirmation we usually arrange the vehicle within 24 hours. Since 2011 we have worked with more than 500 vetted contracted carriers.
