What is the route from the Czech Republic to Italy?

There are two main routes from the Czech Republic to northern Italy. From Prague and Bohemia we drive via Munich, Kufstein, Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass to Verona – about 810 km from Prague and around 970 km to Milan. From Brno and Moravia the shorter way runs via Vienna, Graz, Villach and the Tarvisio crossing to Udine and Venice – Mestre is about 740 km from Brno.

The borders with Austria and Italy are inside Schengen. For northern Italy the shipment usually reaches the consignee 2 days after loading; allow an extra day for Rome and the south.

Where we go in Italy – industrial centres

We most often head to these cities and industrial areas with manufacturing and automotive companies:

  • Milan – fashion, engineering
  • Turin – Stellantis (Fiat)
  • Bologna – packaging machinery, Ducati
  • Verona – logistics
  • Venice – port, glass
  • Rome – production
  • Naples – automotive, port
  • Florence – fashion, leather
  • Genoa – port
  • Modena – Ferrari, Lamborghini
  • Brescia – engineering, steel
  • Padua – logistics

What do we transport to Italy?

To Italy we carry engineering products and parts for machine builders in Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, components for the automotive industry in Piedmont and Emilia, glass, packaging, timber and building materials. We also run regularly to the ports of Trieste, Genoa and La Spezia.

Italian companies often take a lunch break and accept goods only at certain hours. We therefore agree the unloading time in advance and the driver has a direct contact at the consignee.

Which tolls and rules apply in Italy?

  • Tolls: Austria charges the distance-based GO-Maut (the Brenner section has a special rate), and Italian motorways (autostrade) are tolled by distance at toll plazas or via an on-board unit.
  • Tyrol: on the Brenner route there is a night driving ban, a sectoral ban for certain goods and, on selected days, truck metering (Blockabfertigung) at Kufstein. We watch these days and switch to the Tarvisio route when metering applies.
  • Driving ban in Italy: vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive during the day on Sundays and public holidays, and in summer also on some Saturdays.
  • Cities: Italian town centres have restricted traffic zones (ZTL) – unloading there needs a permit or a smaller vehicle.

When are trucks banned from driving in Italy?

How fast does a shipment reach Italy?
For northern Italy the shipment usually arrives 2 days after loading, a day later for Rome and the south. According to our transit time overview we plan 2–3 days.
Do you carry single pallets to Italy?

Do you deliver to southern Italy and Sicily?
Yes, we also deliver to Rome, Naples, Bari and Sicily (across the strait by ferry from Villa San Giovanni). Allow a longer transit time.
Do you also carry goods from Italy to the Czech Republic?
