What is the route from the Czech Republic to Slovakia?
There are more crossings from the Czech Republic into Slovakia than into any other neighbour. From Brno we drive along the D2 via Břeclav and Kúty to Bratislava – about 130 km. From Ostrava the route goes via Mosty u Jablunkova to Čadca and Žilina – around 100 km. From Uherské Hradiště and the Zlín region we cross at Starý Hrozenkov or Horní Lideč to Trenčín and Považská Bystrica.
Prague to Bratislava is about 330 km and Prague to Košice around 650 km; Brno to Košice is roughly 450 km. The border is inside Schengen and the shipment usually reaches the consignee within 1 day of loading, often the same day in western Slovakia.

What do we transport to Slovakia?
To Slovakia we carry parts and components for the car plants in Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and Žilina, engineering products, building materials, packaging and palletised goods for distribution centres around Bratislava, Senec and Trnava.
Slovakia is our closest foreign market – from our base in Břeclav we are at the border in minutes and in Bratislava in an hour and a half.
Which tolls and rules apply in Slovakia?
- Tolls: Slovakia charges an electronic toll for vehicles over 3.5 t on motorways, expressways and first-class roads. Vans up to 3.5 t need an electronic vignette.
- Driving ban: vehicles over 7.5 t may not drive during the day on Sundays and public holidays, and in summer on Saturdays too. Slovak holidays partly differ from Czech ones (for example 6 January, 29 August or 1 November).
- Currency: Slovakia uses the euro – for orders invoiced in Czech crowns we use the exchange rate on the date of supply.
- Documents: even on the short route to Slovakia this is international transport, so we issue a CMR.
